Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrating the ancient Jewish People’s victory over their oppressors. Throughout this midwinter holiday, we kindle eight lights and enjoy fried foods. Why? Well, it’s a long story. In classic Jewish shorthand: “They tried to kill us. We won. Let’s eat!”
