1934 - Krakow Heroes Come In All Forms
Our family opened a small bakery in their hometown of Krakow, Poland. When the Nazis invaded, Beigel’s took action, feeding throngs of starving people who flocked to their small store, hoping to receive some nourishment. Ignoring all of the risks and challenges of the war, they provided fresh bread to all who asked.
1949 - Manhattan
The Birth of
a Cookie
In 1949 our family settled on the Lower East Side of Manhattan where our baked goods quickly became a favorite amongst New Yorkers. It was also the birthplace of our trademark Black and White Cookie. The sweet confection was an instant hit and to date, Beigel’s has churned out over a hundred million of them. As word spread, the bakery grew and in the 1950s we moved to a bigger facility in Williamsburg, Brooklyn which allowed us to expand the product line.
1970 - Clinton Hill Baked Goods on a Roll
Beigel’s reputation and business continued to flourish. Favorable reviews in respected publications helped open new doors to distribution, including airlines, healthcare facilities, schools and other institutions. Costco, Sam’s Club and Krogers all featured the Beigel’s label. In the early 2000s we once again outgrew our facility so we moved to one triple the size in Clinton Hill in downtown Brooklyn.
2015 - Canarsie
Baking up success
Beigel’s quality and tasty ingredients spread far and wide, facilitating the need to move once again. Remaining in Brooklyn, Canarsie became the new home of Beigel’s bakery. A state-of-the-art bakery, featuring leading edge innovations in baking combined with old world recipes and sensibilities and allowed us to increase production and meet demand.
